3 Tips On Getting Your Knife Razor Sharp

Knives are not only tools but saviors in different situations - be it in the kitchen or great outdoors. Being an owner, it becomes your responsibility to keep your precious knives sharp. If you are not sure how to do that, here we have shared some tips with you.

Assess the damage

Before you get started with sharpening your knives, assess the damage. How much the knife is damaged reveals how much work it does require. Pay attention to knife-edge from both sides, and do not forget about the tip. When you look from the side, you will notice that there are small breaks in the line. These are either chips and rolls that you have to get rid of. The depth of a chip will indicate how much work the metal requires along the entire edge.

De-stress the metal

De-stressing the metal means working on the edge. If the steel at the edge is dull, the knife is weak. When you don’t want your precious tool to become dull, it’s important to get rid of the damaged stell and reveal the fresh, strong steel beneath. For this, you need a sharpening stone that will blunt the edges.

Use the sharpening stone

To begin with, make sweeping strokes using the blade on the stone. While doing so, cover as much surface area as possible. You can also work in sections by maintaining a particular sharpening angle. Make sure you do not let the tip slides off the stone; otherwise, it will chip off the tip. Keep the strokes even on both sides of the blade.

With some attention, care, and practice, you can effectively sharp your knives. If you are shopping for a cheap AKC knife, there are plenty of shops and online stores where you can find the best selection of cheap AKC knives.
