How To Remove Rush From An Automatic Knife

Whether it is for cutting purposes or fashion accessories, you might carry your automatic knife anywhere you go. If you use the knife regularly, the blade could maintain its sheen and performance because you sharpen it every time you cut an object. However, leaving a knife untouched for days can accumulate rust due to oxidization even though the product is an expensive item. That is why learning the process of knife cleaning is essential when you buy online automatic knives.  Here are some tips for removing rust from the blade using household items.

Baking soda

When you spot corrosive materials on the knife, you don’t have to cry in a panic. Remove the parts of the knife and separate the blade from the handle. Place the blade on a surface like a chopping board or workbench and sprinkle some baking soda all over the blade. Use your fingers to rub the white soluble compound on the front and back of the blade. Leave it with baking soda for two hours and wash it with water.

Vinegar

Most homes have vinegar for cooking meals in their kitchen, and you can utilize this liquid for cleaning your automatic knife. Get a glass bowl with a size big enough for the blade and pour some vinegar in it. Dip the blade in the liquid and leave it for about five minutes. The acetic acid will eliminate the rust from the blade. After the process, use a dry microfiber cloth to remove the liquid from the blade.

Potato

The easiest method to remove the rust is to cut some potatoes for fun. Get a potato and cut it into halves. Take one half and rub it on either side of the blade. If you are too lazy to move your hand, you can place your knife inside the potato for a few hours. Oxalic acid, a colorless crystalline organic acid found in the potato, will remove the rust from the blade.

If you are not familiar with knife cleaning tactics, go to a local knife restoration workshop. Experts in such a shop know how to clean all kinds of available online automatic knives. They can dismantle the knife without damaging its components.
