What Are Switchblade Knives?
Automatic knives are nothing different from a switchblade knife. It is simply another name for it. Spring assisted knives is what is different as in these the user has to press a thumb stud attached to the blade unlike in a switchblade knife in which a button on the handle has to be pressed.
The working of a switchblade knife
The typical switchblade knife has been around since the 1920s. It is not any different from a folding pocket knife.
The knife consists of a handle which is longer and thicker than the blade of the knife itself. The handle is hollow with only a slit down the length of it on one side. The handle contains the folded knife blade, a spring and a locking mechanism which is attached to a button that extends from any one of the flat sides of the handle. The base and hilt of the knife are made of brass and steel. The base hides the hard point which is attached to the spring whereas the hilt hides the fact that the knife blade is set into an oiled hinge. The underside of the knife blade is what connects to the other end of the spring. You can book online German switchblades and see the structure for yourself.
